This new publication by Andrea Valle in our Varia section is a brilliant exploration of the semiotics of reuse. Building on French and Italian semiotic traditions of enunciative praxis (Fontanille) and the semiotics of objects (Eco), the article teases out a formal framework to define objects as sign functions that undergo various types of transformative process (tampering, bricolage, repair, reuse, recycling, and so on).
