New issue of Semiotic Review, "Dialogues between Continental Semiotic and Linguistic Anthropology" out now!
The newest issue of Semiotic Review, "Dialogues between Continental Semiotics and Linguistic Anthropology," is out now! Edited by Constantine V. Nakassis and Tatsuma Padoan, this issue aims to create a space for dialogue across continental semiotics and linguistic anthropology, that is, the semiotic traditions that emerged in post-war Europe in the wake of structuralism and, in North America, the branch of anthropology that emerged from the Boasian tradition of situating language in culture. These distinct approaches to theorizing and analyzing meaning-making share common roots and yet have largely diverged over the last half century and have been in little to no contact since. This issue provides a space to further explore the points of contact between these lively networks of semiotic thought and to open a channel of communication between these diverse traditions. This issue features articles from Felix Danos, Maria Giulia Dondero, Aurora Donzelli, Enzo D'Armenio, Mariem Guellouz, Constantine V. Nakassis, and Tatsuma Padoan, and more on the way. As with all issues of Semiotic Review, "Dialogues" is open in perpetuity to new submissions. We encourage submissions that articulate concepts, thinkers, and methods from both traditions, with the aims of fostering a dialogue between continental semiotics and linguistic anthropology (see the Call for Papers).
